Osasuna Calls 22 Players for Season Finale Against Getafe
Club Atlético Osasuna (10-9-12, 39 points) and Real Betis (11-13-7, 46 points) played to a 1-1 draw at El Sadar Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Forward Ez Abde put Los Verdiblancos ahead early, but forward Ante Budimir equalized before halftime. In the second half, Osasuna pressed for a winner, but Betis goalkeeper Álvaro Vallés made several key saves.
The matchday at El Sadar began with the club honoring the squad led by then-head coach Pepe Alzate, which earned promotion to the top flight in the 1979-80 season. Osasuna threatened first, but on a quick counterattack, Betis defender Hector Bellerin found Abde, who scored in the seventh minute. Osasuna responded as Jon Moncayola had a shot blocked by Betis defender Valentin Goméz. Both sides created chances, with Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera denying Abde and defender Valentin Rosier missing wide. Just before halftime, Vallés stopped a header from Budimir on the line, but on the rebound, Goméz fouled Jorge Herrando and the referee awarded a penalty. Budimir converted to tie the match.
In the second half, Osasuna held more possession and tested Vallés, with forward Víctor Muñoz posing the main threat. Muñoz, a two-time under-23 player of the month, forced Valles into two strong saves—one from outside the box toward the top right corner and another from close range after receiving a pass from defender Javi Galán.
Osasuna continued to attack. Midfielder Aimar Oroz was brought down in the area, but neither the referee nor VAR awarded a penalty. Moments later, VAR did not intervene when Betis forward Cucho Hernandez elbowed Osasuna defender Juan Cruz off the ball; both players were cautioned. Iker Muñoz missed a free kick, and in the closing minutes, forwards Raúl Garcia and Raúl Moro saw their efforts stopped by Vallés.
Osasuna's next match is Tuesday, April 21, at Athletic Club in San Mames. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. local time (6 p.m. BST, 1 p.m. ET).
Minutes: 96min.
